Connections worth seeing.

A considered dispatch on tools, techniques and ideas for visualizing systems. Read the first web edition below, or follow the RSS feed.

Our focus: Helping people understand and operate complex systems. We follow cross-domain visualization, digital twins, 3D environments, VR, and holographic or spatial displays—asking where each improves human understanding, decisions, and control. We look for traversable views and smooth movement from a system overview to component detail, with context preserved at every scale.

One system, three ways of seeing.

Start with the question you need to answer. A relationship map, a synchronized robot recording and an architecture diagram make different aspects of a system visible.

  1. Who influences whom? Kumu helps surface stakeholders, connections and feedback loops. Use narrative context to explain why each relationship matters.
  2. What did the robot see and do? Foxglove brings modalities into a time-synchronized view; Rerun provides a programmable data and visualization toolchain.
  3. How do the services interact? Eraser and Mermaid Chart offer AI assisted paths from descriptions to editable technical diagrams.

The editorial test: does the visual help someone ask a better question, inspect an assumption, or explain a decision?
